A gas leakage incident occurred at the Ajmera Gas Plant on Vishwakarma Road Number 18 in Jaipur on Tuesday evening. The leakage, caused by a broken valve during the transfer of CO2 gas to a storage tank, led to a significant release of gas. This incident created panic in the area as frost formed on nearby vehicles and plants due to the cooling effect of the gas.
Cause of the Incident
Assistant Fire Officer Bhawar Singh Hada reported that the plant’s storage tank, containing 20 tons of CO2, experienced a valve failure. The broken valve allowed a large amount of gas to escape, creating thick white vapors and forming frost on surfaces.
Response Measures
Two fire brigade teams were dispatched to control the situation. They sprayed water for 30 minutes to disperse the gas and seal the valve. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Police officials led by Station Officer Rajendra Sharma inspected the site and instructed the plant management to improve safety measures and conduct regular equipment maintenance.
