Shahid Kapoor’s much-anticipated cop thriller Deva continues to struggle at the box office, with Day 2 collections plummeting by 48% compared to its opening day. According to trade reports, the film earned a dismal ₹3.2 crore on Saturday, bringing its total domestic nett to ₹8.7 crore after two days.

Day 1 vs Day 2: A Rocky Start

  • Friday (Day 1): ₹5.5 crore (trade estimate) / ₹5.78 crore (producer claim).
  • Saturday (Day 2): ₹3.2 crore (Sacnilk data), marking a steep 48% drop.
  • Worldwide Total: ₹18.94 crore gross, including ₹3.46 crore from overseas markets.

The film’s underwhelming start places it below Shahid’s previous releases like Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (₹6.7 crore opening) and Jersey (₹3.2 crore Day 1).

Regional Performance: Maharashtra Fails to Rescue

Deva relied heavily on Maharashtra for footfall but underperformed in key cities like Mumbai and Pune. Weak turnout in NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Central India further dented its prospects. Trade analysts note this is Shahid’s 11th-highest opener, trailing behind Haider.

Box Office Competition Heats Up

The film faces stiff competition from Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, Ram Charan’s Game Changer, and Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency. Limited screens and mixed word-of-mouth have added to its challenges.
