Varun Dhawan’s action-packed movie Baby John has achieved a significant milestone at the box office, crossing Rs 20 crore on Day 4 of its release. While the film’s opening was a bit underwhelming, it has shown some resilience, managing to pick up steam despite facing tough competition from other major films. However, the road to success has been challenging for this action thriller.
Box Office Performance So Far
On Day 1, Baby John struggled to make a strong impact, grossing only Rs 3.65 crore. The lackluster opening was disappointing, especially considering Varun Dhawan’s strong fan following. Despite this, the film saw a slight improvement on Day 2, earning Rs 4.25 crore. By the end of its four-day run, the total box office collection stands at Rs 23.90 crore, which is a modest achievement for the film. The film’s occupancy rate across Hindi shows was recorded at 14.64%, suggesting that it is holding steady, though not at the levels anticipated for a star-studded release.
Challenges Faced by Baby John
The primary challenge for Baby John has been the stiff competition it faced during its release. The film went head-to-head with two major blockbusters: Pushpa 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the hit film starring Allu Arjun, and the Hollywood animated film Mufasa: The Lion King. Both of these films have been dominating the box office, making it harder for Baby John to secure a significant share of the audience.
Pushpa 2 has been breaking records, surpassing the Rs 1,500 crore milestone globally, while Mufasa has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in India, further drawing attention away from Baby John.

Cancelled Screenings and Marco’s Rise
Adding to the difficulties, several screenings of Baby John were reportedly cancelled during its opening weekend, with theatres opting to screen the Hindi version of Marco, a Malayalam action film that has been performing better than expected. Marco has earned around Rs 29.9 crore in India, leading to more screenings being added. This shift of focus to Marco reduced the number of shows available for Baby John, further hindering its box office performance.
